Ice Palace

There is no doubt the earths climate is changing. The amazing part, is when nature reacts in unexpected ways, such as this palace of ice found in Scoresby Sund, in Greenland. In this particular location, large ice bergs that have broken off the nearby tidewater glaciers, travel with the currents right into a shallow sandbar, where they remain stranded until the summer sun melts them. Because they’re so large, this process can take years. During the melting period, nature creates many sensational designs, such as this enormous arch within this tower of ice.

This image was captured with a Hasselblad H5D body and 50c,50 megapixel back, 28mm F/4 lens while in a small raft.
